When vacancies occur for the position of police officer, the Inc. Village of Lynbrook hires police recruits whose names appear on the Nassau County Civil Service Commission (NCCSC) eligible list of police officer candidates.
Persons interested in becoming a member of the Lynbrook Police Department or a police officer in Nassau County should contact the NCCSC.
New recruits are trained at the Nassau County Police Academy(and/or other police academies in the metropolitan area depending on availability). Transfers by certified officers will receive Nassau Police Academy Training either as in service training or by attending a full NCPD Academy Program at the discretion of the Chief of Police.

Duties: Police officers render first aid until arrival of medical personnel, enforce traffic and parking laws, direct vehicle and pedestrian traffic, deter crime, apprehend criminals, conduct crowd control, & perform other police duties as assigned by the Chief of Police or other superior officers. Tours of duty include day and night shifts, working weekends and holidays.
Requirements: High School Diploma, 32 college credits and must meet all requirements set forth by the Nassau County Civil Service Commission & any additional requirements as set forth by the Chief of Police.
