Board of Brookville Police Commissioners

The Board of Brookville Police Commissioners is the duly constituted governing body responsible for civilian oversight of the Brookville Police Department. Pursuant to inter-municipal agreements, the Mayors of the Incorporated Villages of BrookvilleCove NeckMatinecock, and Mill Neck each serve as a Police Commissioner for their respective municipality. The Deputy Mayors of each village serve as Deputy Police Commissioners.

The Board is vested with authority to establish departmental policies, approve budgets, and provide administrative oversight to ensure that police services are delivered in a lawful, professional, and accountable manner. In coordination with the Chief of Police, the Board upholds the Department’s core values of Courage, Service, and Integrity, and supports a community-policing philosophy that emphasizes partnership, prevention, and shared responsibility for public safety across all villages served.
